Having just posted my entry fo this( hope it arrives in time Craz) I thought I would get the ball rolling with introductions to test if anyone looks at this forum.

My name is Jonathan Geldard I did it last year as well and finally decided to do it again this year. I'm primarily a roadie at hearrt and have taken part in the Etape du Tour(a stage of the tour de france) this year. You might think that saying that I'm some sort of Lance Armstrong but you'd be wrong. 140 miles in 3 days may not be the greatest challege to me but some of it is off road and I'm useless off road but there is more to cycling then racing from A to B and rides like this are great social events and a way of meeting like minded cyclists with time to have a few beers as well. Incidently who is doing this this year? Are there a few familiar faces from last year other than Gaz, Craz and Matt. I'm just a bit gutted I didn't get to do the other rides this year but am looking forward to this one.

See you all soon

Jonathan

No sign of the form yet but will let you know as soon as it turns up :)

As for the list of riders, I'll know more next week I suspect once I've filled all the places.

:)

Hi everyone, I've just followed the links here after thinking about doing a Transpennine Trail event, But being a Cumbrian (living in cheshire) this seems more my cup of tea!!!

I currently do a 16mile-a-day commute 5 days a week and would like to push my self a bit more! can i ask a few quick questions?

What kind of terrain can we expect??
what tyres should we use? ( front sussy/tard tail MTB)
Is there any night riding?? (I do 24hr karting and LOVE the night!)
When do you need entries in - am I too late?

C2C 08

Postby Andy Wills on Tue Aug 19, 2008 10:14 am

Hi Jonathan glad you're back for another go. I will be guiding again but this time I,m riding a full sus MTB. I,m still crap off road but I now look like a mountain biker. 8)
Rob to answer your questions; Terrain.Day 1. First part starts gentle on old rail track, then some climbs (short n steep) in the country lanes. After Keswick you can choose easy road route or hard off road. Day 2. From Penrith climbing starts after about 3 miles. Hartside pass, long climb but not particularly steep. Short steep climbs saved for the afternoon. You will have earned those beers at Rookhope.
Day 3. Hard climb at start to moor top. After that the route drops all the way to the East coast. Last year we had on road or off road groups. Riders jumped groups throughout the ride.
Tyres. I rode slicks last year even on some of the off road.Knobblies would have been better. Day 1 finished in the dark, so bring lights!!

Introductions

Postby Andy Wills on Sat Aug 23, 2008 8:15 pm

I've just received an e mail from Craz saying the C2C is now fully booked.
Why not introduce yourselves here on the forum and as Craz said ask those burning questions.

I'm Andy and will be 51 by the time of the ride. I am a road rider but will have a go off road. I really only ride bikes so I can eat cake and drink beer without getting huge. I will be guiding the group with Matt.
I will be riding a Kona MTB this year and am determined to conquer the Old Coach road which defeated us all last year.

This is a tough ride so get some training in. It's gonna be brill, I can't wait. :D

I'm Nicky and I signed myself up for this in a moment of madness! I mountain-bike but haven't been getting out much recently. Hopefully I will have built up my new bike in time for some longer rides in before the SeatoSea - am nervous to say the least though the the maths of SeatoSea = lots of cake is keeping me going!

Hi Nicky!

You'll be just fine!! Don't worry.

Getting out on the bike now will just lessen the pain that you may feel in the buttock area when we're actually on the ride!! :D

And if the worst comes to the worst, just blame Jon and Sarah!!!

Seriously tho, we'll look after you, even to the point of helping with the cake if need be!!

Hi

Just back from my hols in Florence, I have to say that it is somewhere I would go back too it was great, lots to see and do and plenty to eat!!!

About to go out on a bike ride to make up for the time resting on hols! too hot to cycle over there though plenty were doing it!

Really looking forwrad to the seatosea this year despite knowing whats coming! For those who are feeling a bit aprehensive you will be fine. Just keep plodding on upward and you will do it and the down hills are a real bonus!

For those who I have not met before I am Pam and I will be 50 when I do the ride a year behing Andy though not as fit as he is! I started doing long distances last year with the seatosea and have not looked back.

See you all in October

Introducing: Excitable of Leeds!!!

Postby Gin on Thu Aug 28, 2008 4:59 pm

Hi all,

For those of you who dont know me (which will be pretty much everyone seeing as i havnt done one of these before!!) im Ginny. I live in Leeds and have been biking for the last couple of years. I have to confess to mostly off road riding but I am slowly being persuaded to train more on the roads, even with clippy pedals in which I had my 1st falling off incident last night infact my first 3!! Note: do not try and ride over a big rock when feet attached to metal frame and 2 wheels!

Is anyone riding in the Leeds area at the min? If they are let me know and I will tag along... and promise to try and stay upright!
Really excited about the sea2sea and meeting you all, but mostly excited that it will look like we are rock stars (and I fully intend to sing!) Only 42 more sleeps! Gin xx
