Riding - Sunday 28th October

Postby allarsj on Sat Oct 20, 2007 4:37 pm

Sarah and I are planning to hit some singletrack on Sunday 28th. This will more than likely be at Llandegla in Wales if not then we will be at Dalby.

If anyone fancies meeting us over there that would be cool, will know midweek whether it will be Llandegla or Dalby. It's not the sea2sea but there are some nice swooshy trails at both sites!

We will be at Dalby on Sunday. Meeting in the main carpark by the visitors centre and Low Dalby Village at around 10:30. If you fancy it we'll see you there. If you need directions or anything you can contact us here, by email jon[at]allars[dot]co[dot]uk or mobile 0seven9204eight4034.

Dalby

Postby Andy Wills on Wed Oct 24, 2007 4:35 pm

I would have loved to have ridden Dalby, however minor surgery on Friday will rule the bike out for a short while. Keep posting the rides and I'll join up with you as soon as poss. Enjoy the day.

It's only because I didn't think I could write 'Feck'.

How long do you reckon such a countryside jaunt as this would take?

The red route is 23 miles officially, although we tend to skip a bit of firetrack on a tasty black boardwalk section if it is dry enough. It should take us around 3-4 hours although can be done quicker if you don't stop peddling ever!

Would really love to join you, but few minor issues, first I need a decent bike (and to be fitter, but let's blame the bike!!) and unfortunately I have rowing training every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8.00 - 12.00, grr, sorry. Keep posting and if you have an afternoon one I'll definately join you next time. :-) Hugs to all, Alice -x-

Is that time estimate in GRT (Gary Rowntree Time) or are you more accurate?

The problem is that my son's been Up North with his Grandparents and I don't know whtat time I'm meeting them on Sunday to collect him. I should know later on today. I'd like to come though - will I need a packed lunch? :)

Disaster Strikes...

Postby allarsj on Sat Oct 27, 2007 2:12 pm

Having had a really bad weekend I am afraid that Sarah and I are not going to make it to Dalby after all :( Firstly the buyers for our house pulled out so we have people viewing the house all weekend.

Then to add insult to injury whilst I was rebuilding the drive train on my bike after breaking it on the sea2sea I noticed a crack in the swingarm of my bike. It is now winging its way to Marin HQ to hopefully be repaired / replaced, so I do not have a bike.

Will keep posting when we are going out riding, not sure how Dalby will hold up to the winter season but need to get plenty of training in before heading to Morocco in April and riding lots of charity rides next year.
