TOP KIT

Postby Andy Wills on Tue Sep 04, 2007 10:43 am

After a while we all find some bits of cycling kit that really do the job well.

Why not share your discovery with others? :)

My best buy recently was A Rapha cotton cap. Water proof, breathable and it fits under a helmet. Not cheap at £20, but still worth it.

Best freebee, Plastic bank cash bags. I put my mobile phone in one, cash/bank card in another, instantly waterproof. Also usefull for tools and small items in your seat bag.

Agreed on the waterproofing technique (although I must admit I'm still a sandwich bag man myself!). I guess there's a little more meat on a bank bag :)

My tip, after having my road bike stolen from outside my office last week (on the second day I'd ridden it in.....ever!) is to get one of these awesome locks. They're used loads on the continent, and if you've been to Holland you'll recognise them immediately!

They are permanently attached to the bike, can be locked in a couple of seconds and are silver -> gold sold secure standard (depending on which model you get).

I think for this lock and the chain extension I paid £35.

My bike security tip :)

Security tip - don't wash your bike!

Best thing I ever bought was a pair of Sealskinz socks. They're pretty good although water can run down your leg and into the sock - but it does have to be deluging for that to happen!
