Does it comply with the following?!!

Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 90 pixels, the height no greater than 90 pixels, and the file size no more than 49 KB  (p.s. right click on the picture in Windows Explorer and select 'Properties' to see the size and dimensions!)

Hello my name is Nick and I’m a cyclist…

Postby beltabout on Sat Sep 13, 2008 7:45 am

…well I ride a bike! I ride so that I can carry on eating cake and drinking beer, its not working.

I try and ride at least twice a week with work I am only able to get out at weekends, I ride both road and mountain bikes, and will be on the mountain bike for the C2C.
I live in Castleford and spend a lot of time on the highway and byways in the West Yorkshire area, if any one fancies tagging a long or going a bit further a field drop me a note.

I have done some long one day events 100miles but never a multi day event, I remember not being able to use stairs after the last 100 miler.

I am really looking forward to this event and to meeting you all on the start line.

Safe riding.

Nick

Hi Nick.

Which routes do you do around Cas out of interest??

Look forward to meeting you for the Sea2Sea, and be glad that you won't have far to go to get to the buses!!!

Hi Craz

I spend a lot of time linking up trails on the Aire and Calder.

Yesterday from Cas into Airedale along the old pit to Fryston down to the river through Fairburn village to visitor centre then through the woods to Ledsham.
Road to the A1 them into Micklefield out of Micklefield over fields and through wood to Lotherton.
To Aberford then through Parlington wood to Garforth.
Garforth along the old railway lines back to Cas.

Sometimes I head the same way then at Aberford go to Bramhan, and back through Thorner or around Ecoup and Harewood.

When I am feeling lazy I stick to the canal out of Cas to Stanley Ferry then back in over Heath, through Sharlston, Featherstone, Ponti Race course.

I will also through the bike on the carrier and head off to Dalby, Sherwood or Ladybower. A few more hills than Cas!

What about you?

Hello

Postby John on Mon Sep 15, 2008 12:56 pm

Hi

I'm John and it looks like I'm the final member of the group!

I'm mostly an on-road rider and live in near Oxford where there are no hills so you've all got an advantage on me!

I need your help though; should I do the ride on my good road bike or my crap auld mountain bike? Your thoughts would be most welcome!

thanks

John

Choice of steed

Hi John
I would go for the old MTB. You don't need the latest full sus bike for the C2C. I rode it last year on a 15 year old rigid GT MTB. Some riders were on hybrids. Much of the route follows old mineral rail tracks. The broader MTB tyres are better for this. I had 1.5F and 1.75R road tyres and had no problem except for a lack of grip on the really rough off road sections which are optional.
The triple chainset on a MTB will be put to use.

Don't forget to bring some lights. It will be dark around 6pm. We finished the first day after dark last year. :D

Not long to go now.

Just got back yesterday from a cycle trip traversing the Pyrenees. Now looking forward to this trip again, I just need to get the bike back together because currently it is in pieces ( that's not the road bike i used for the above trip but my mountain bike). I'll have to dig out a photo to post on the website.

bye for now
