Do it thy sen !

Riders of the C2C 07 who were fortunate to get a puncture or have a mechanical problem were no doubt dazzled at the dexterity and mechanical skills I was able to employ in effecting a lightning repair to their ailing machines. 8)

The secret to this is a visit to THE BIKE INN. This is bike mechanics training run by Alf and Teresa Webb at their home in the Old school House at Spalding Lincs.

They run a 5 day or 10 day course (option to get your City and Guilds certificate) or a 3 day wheel building course. Let me tell you Teresa builds a mean wheel.
They also sell bike frames, wheels and tools. You can even camp in their garden.

I did the 10 day City & Guilds course, 18 months ago. I believe it now costs £750, but think what you will save by fixing your own bike and being self reliant when you're away from home.
I had a great time on my course and met some smashing folks. It's very satisfying when you can build your own wheels and fettle your bike.
Look them up at www.bike-inn.co.uk

Maybe I won't need to carry so many tools next time :)
