Amsterdame08 Pre-Event Ride (plus celebrity!)

Postby Craz on Tue Jan 29, 2008 4:20 pm

Michelle Morris, one of the ride guides for Amsterdame08, is organising a ride from Leeds to the Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford on the Sunday before we set off (that's Sunday 18th May).

To make this even more special we're delivering tulips to the residents there (keeping the Dutch link going!) and will be joined by Julia Bradbury (BBC Watchdog, Wainwrights Walks, etc) who is a massive supporter of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Julia is taking time out of her busy schedule (including another MCCC speech the day before in Derbyshire and a talk in front of 1000 people on Friday night in Cumbria) to come and see us.

It would be great if you could take part in this pre-event ride and it would give you a chance to see a Marie Curie hospice up close and personal.

Michelle will be emailing details, including the length of the ride and so-on over the coming weeks, but we expect the ride to start at approximately 11am, finishing in Bradford shortly after lunchtime.

I'll not be able to ride with you all unfortunately as I have to collect Julia and her agent from Derbyshire.

:)

I'd be really interested in taking part in this if it would be possible to have some more details from Michelle?

Hiya.

I think Shell's going to email the Amsterdame08 team shortly with some further details on this, but basically I think that you'll be setting off from Leeds in time to arrive at the Bradford hospice for 1pm so that Julia Bradbury is already there to welcome you all and then do the hospice tour with you, etc.

She's also trying to persuade some local florists to donate some tulips :)

Shell should be sending info out shortly, but in brief, we need as many of the Amsterdame riders as possible (friends welcome too!) to cycle from about 11am on that morning from Leeds to Bradford (about 10 miles I think) to the Marie Curie Hospice there.

I'll be driving down to Derbyshire to pick up Julia Bradbury (BBC Watchdog) and bringing her up to the hospice for a photo shoot and a chat at about 1pm.

Hopefully we'll all have a tour of the hospice and then ride back at about 2.30-3pm.

:)
